Return healthcare decisions to physicians and their patients.
Welcome to Harvey Clinic. Explore our web pages and discover the services we offer as well as a lot of information on the state of our healthcare systems today.
The primary care physician is disappearing from the health care scene. Health care is becoming more and more a field for specialists, with few physicians choosing to provide primary care for families, even in populated areas. Few young physicians will tolerate being on call 24/7. They would prefer to work in a corporate environment where they seldom have to take call, if at all. They even get most weekends off. Further complicating access to primary care physicians, corporate medicine is moving more and more to no longer allowing primary care physicians to attend the patients they admit to hospitals. Instead “hospitalists” are hired to track the care of in-patients.
No one seems to understand that the primary care physician who has treated the patient, possibly for years, knows much more about the patient than the stranger, the hospitalist. This leaves no one to oversee the entire spectrum of patient care to keep all the loose ends connected. Tying up loose ends and overseeing a broad spectrum of care from various specialists is an important element of quality health care, but one that is most often missing today. At Harvey Clinic, we offer patients the real thing—a primary care physician who knows you and will listen to your concerns about your health.
Telemedicine Now Available in Harvey
Harvey Clinic now offers remote visits with Dr. Lindemann. It has been increasinglly difficult to travel the 200 miles to Harvey to see his patients every month. Patients can always see Dr. Lindemann in Elgin, but telemedicine allows him to be available to his patients in Harvey without the long drive.
